The Royal Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia in Naples has accepted to help FSHD Italia APS to spread the knowledge regarding FSHD. The Savoia yacht club is an historical sailing club and frequently organizes international regattas.
In particular, from 4 to 6 January 2025, the Savoia yacht club will host the XXXI Marcello Campobasso Trophy in the gulf of Naples.
It is a regatta of optimist which involves about 200 of participants from 8 to 15 years old.
This year the sailors will come from Italy, Denmark, Spain, Greece, Sweden, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia.
Each competitor will wear a t-shirt with the association’s logo and each boat will have such logo next to the number of the boat. Furthermore, the association’s logo will be depicted on flags that will wave at the harbor together with those of the other participants’ countries. Additionally, the Savoia yacht club will donate 10 euro per regatta participant to FSHD Italia. During these three days, we will distribute our brochures (in English language) to explain to the competitors what FSHD is and to raise awareness with respect to such disease.
Separately, FSHD Italia APS will organize an additional meeting, to be held at the yacht club probably in June 2025, to talk about FSHD.
We are glad that it will be possible for our association to participate to such an important event, and we are confident that this would be a unique opportunity to get together and raising awareness of FSHD among young people coming from all over Europe.
