Project Mercury launched – The Global Initiative to Speed the Delivery of Therapies for FSHD

June 23, 2023 By Bine Haase

FSHD Europe and the FSHD European Trial Network is pleased to be a part of Project Mercurya global collaboration seeking to speed the delivery of treatments to people living with FSHD.

Within Europe this will mean:

  • Increasing and co-ordinating clinical trial sites across Europe: this currently means 🇫🇷 France,
🇩🇪 Germany, 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇳🇱 The Netherlands, 🇪🇸 Spain and the 🇬🇧 UK
  • Developing a better understanding of the FSHD patient journey and the impact FSHD has on their lives both socially and economically
  • Increasing patient engagement across Europe, with an increase in numbers on national Patient Registries, ready to take part in clinical trials
  • Developing information to inform payor systems to cover the cost of the treatment

Taken together this will mean more European patients involved in more clinical trials in different European countries, to support the process of regulatory approval when a treatment becomes available. This will benefit all FSHD Patients across Europe.
